30 Days Of Gratitude Day 5

#30DaysOfGratitude  day 5!

Today I'm grateful for the ability to create art!
I've been blessed with the ability to create something from nothing and raised in a somewhat artistic home.

This past weekend I was honored to hang my paintings for my friends and community to admire through November at @dantesbarfrostburg !

Seeing how far my art has grown has made me keep pushing forward even when projects don't turn out as planned. But its funny how others always fall in love with the ones I'm not always sure about.

Art is all different to every single eye.

Have you created anything lately?
What are you grateful for today?

5 Day Art Challenge. DAY ONE

Last night I was nominated by Christopher Selomon Closson for the 5 Day Art Challenge. I am challenging myself to post 5 items each day of the 5 day challenge.
Day 1 of the 5 Day Art Challenge.  I am sharing my "growing tree" collection which is what really kicked off my Shantastic Shine Creations business.

Suessical Trees

Umber Growth

Faded Skies

Tangerine Skies

*This is the first painting I created for *Shantastic Shine Creations* it was a $600 Commissioned piece for a beautiful women in West Virgina. It was made in I believe 2011 and I didn't have a good quality camera working at the time it needed delivered so I never got a good photo of it. She sent me this of it hung in her home. This painting was rather large and my first multi-piece tree that I really fell in love with which created my "Growing Tree" Collection that I feel will continue to grow through my lifetime as well.

* Large commissioned pieces are ALWAYS welcome and I love to custom create something to grow with you as well! Please don't hesitate to contact me for a piece just for you or someone you know.

Nominate Sandy Kenney Arnold Robyn Price-Case Regina Holliday to take the 5 Day Art Challenge * If you would like , because I'm not sure if you have been nominated previously but who doesn't love a chance to share their art?*

If you would like to purchase or trade for a high definition prints, customs or originals, please contact me at shantasticshine@gmail.com

Look Whoooos Done

"The old barnwood owl"
Look whoooos  finally done.  This fella took me a couple of weeks to finally bring together. I actually thought it would be a simpler project but man was I wrong!

This piece measures at about 28 inches by 38 and is made up of a couple hundred shims from old recycled canvas' from my earlier years!

He was origianlly created for a school project in my Design 2 class but after falling in love with him he is going to be the start of a series of wooden animals in this style. I'm not collecting more wooden pieces to create hopefully a wolfe , dragonfly , bear, and more... all in time though. Takes a while to collect hundreds of extra wooden bits sometimes haha!  Hope you enjoy him!

Wow, I just got back from sharing my story a little bit at Frankfort Middle. What an experience. I had never realized how awesome it would feel to have a room full of smiling faces listening with ideas. They all were generally interested and I got to give each of them something to keep.  Although, I made a few to small so I will have to make a few to send back in for those who's might not have fit just right. I wasn't sure how tiny/big their wrists would be. Kids are a bit different than I remember being at that age.
♥ That being said, IT WAS AWESOME! 25ish smiling faces and a room full of questions! They were all so excited a few were late for class. *sorry* What an awesome feeling. To teach little minds hmm.

Thanks Ms.Snoberger for inviting me! Sorry I was a little late. Due to not being able to figure out the door system! haha at least they keep the kiddos safe with all those locked doors!

I would totally do it again :) Maybe next time I will breathe a little bit. I felt like I was trying to tell them so much with so little time. But hey, they really wanted to know! That's what was awesome.

If any of you are reading I hope I taught you a little something ;) If you can make something, AND it makes you happy, do it!

BUT business may not be for everyone. Some of you may want to reach the moon, but others want to reach the stars and they are a lot further away. <3
A photo of some of the bracelets I gave to the kiddos. I will be making more for ones that may have been to small. If any parents get on and wonder what they are made of they have a center piece of "hemp" but the outside of the blue and yellow are a nylon base cord, the white one is a cotton cord. I didn't want to use the natural hemp in case someone would get itchy.  If you would like one of your own or custom colored one please feel free to CONTACT ME and I will gladly talk to ya about getting some.

Finally a Painting update!

It's been so long since I got to do an update on some artwork. It may be because I haven't felt very artistically motivated. I think cold weather slows down my creativity. I truley can't wait until I can open the windows and enjoy th pretty weather and paint away in the studio!

However until then I still needed to do something. This was a piece I had been scratching my head at. I wanted to do a simple portrait style with color tones in the background. I had this canvas I went to down with my favorite shades of blue. I then started to see where the previous portrait idea shown through.

Boyfriend was a bit skeptical on the idea. I still don't think it's one of his favorites. He says it reminds him of a creepy avatar..... I never really got into avatar so I guess maybe since she's blue and they are too?

Anyways she has been christened as  "Tarra Sees"   and she is now on display in the Allegany College of Maryland Cumberland campus gallery. A long with about a dozen of my other favorite pieces.  All are for sale.  If you are in the Cumberland Area, or a AC student please take a moment to peak in if you would. :)

Yay for November. Time to get thankful and motivated!

November has arrived and it kinda snuck up on me!  However I got so much done I must say I am thankful for the sudden surge of motivation yesterday or nothing would have gotten finished. I had been sick for a few days and today I will be setting up my showcase at Allegany College of Maryland Bedford Campus with my good friend, former teacher, and inspiration Ms. Robyn Price.  :D

However, despite being sick I managed to create, print, share, and handout my promo flier for my Live Painting next week. Which you can check out more of the event: HERE .

I also worked on my speed painting. I created this  Jerry Garcia piece in 7mins and 23 seconds. It is on a 16x20 Canvas and will sell for $40 (wire hanging on back for easy display).

I also finally found a rotating easel! I ordered it just a few minutes ago. I hope it gets here in time for my live performance because I paid extra for it to ship asap! I'm to excited and impatient to wait ya know!

I also managed to see a bunch of friends and family through the day. Oh , and did I mention I actually did my homework?  All while being slightly sick! Go Me!
 t
I will say I am thankful for my boyfriend who has babied me and taken care of me the past 48 hours and put up with my poutyness knowing I had a ton of stuff to get through sick or not.  <3 maybe he really does support me as much as he says.

Now it's time for rest!

Heady Wraps

A Friend and Fan Aaron aka JesusHimself Model ;)

I fell in the love with the art of Heady wraps at my first festival. They were so intricate and eye catching I couldn't help but want to learn more.
my first "accidental" Heady wrap/ Amulet
I found that they had many stones and that each have different meanings. I have recently ordered a gem set and some books to do more research in hopes to bring more of this to Shantastic soon ;) I have a few friends that are also interested in getting the meanings done.

Little had I knew I had recently created my first one already, It was my friends amulet! ( Aaron aka JesusHimself - Fire twirler) I was so excited and recieved so much great feedback that I wanted to make more! These are a few I have been playing with :D The first mostly white black and silver one is one I made special for my boyfriend <3

Boyfriends Heady Wrap- :)

Pleaase feel free to share images on facebook or pin my blog to Pinterest. All support is welcome :D
